Book Review – The Passenger by Lisa Lutz

Hi everyone! How are you all?
Today I am going to be reviewing The Passenger by Lisa Lutz, a book I found to be truly entertaining.

image

Author : Lisa Lutz
Publisher : Titan books
Published on : March 1st 2016 by Simon & Schuster
March 15 2016 by Titan books
Genre : Thriller, Mystery, Suspense

Synopsis :

With her husband’s body still warm, Tanya Dubois has only one option : run. When the police figure out that she doesn’t officially exist, they’ll start asking questions she can’t answer.
Desperate to keep the past buried, she adopts and sheds identities as she flees. Along the way she meets a cop with unknown motives and a troubled woman who see through her disguise – and who may be a friend or foe.
But ultimately she is alone, and the past can no longer be ignored . . .

Review :

Tanya Dubois is the first name the main character goes by and the book starts with her running away suddenly after her husband’s death. This is not because she is responsible for his death but she knows that this could cause her past to surface and thus her true identity to be revealed. She goes around to different places, adopting new identities on the way, some which last for a short while and other which last longer. She builds close friendship with some characters like Blue, Andrew, Domenic and Sean.

Tanya Dubois is obviously a disguise for a woman we are yet to find out about. We are being given clues here and there about her true identity and this only aroused my curiosity to know the real her. The book is divided into eight different sections each titled with the name she goes by for a certain period. During the book, we are being shown with some emails between her and Ryan. All we are able to know is that he is someone from her past and is involved in whatever that had caused her to start running in the first place.

The last 50 pages or so are filled with all the answers to our questions and  every single detail about her past is there. We are being introduced to the real her, it is rather satisfying to know her true identity.

This was such an incredibly amazing book and I am honestly so glad that I read it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel! 😀 Some parts had truly marvelled me, indeed they even persuaded me into finishing this book as soon as possible. To conclude I would like to say that I absolutely LOVED this book and this is possibly one of the best books I have ever read!!  I would highly recommend you to read this and I assure you that you will also enjoy it.

10 Study tips

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Hope you are in the best of health and happiness. Have your exams started? Mine are starting in about a week and a half.
As the finals are here, I thought today’s post would be related to that. Here are 10 study tips that I follow. I hope you’ll enjoy this post and let’s get into it.

wp-1462464677639.jpg

1. Study whenever possible and revise
Always study when you get the opportunity, it doesn’t matter whether it’s for 20 or 25 minutes. You should study earlier and revise as many times as you can. These multiple revisions can help you remember information easily and increase your confidence while taking the exams.

2. Study in a quite room
It is crucial that you study in a quite room as it can help you to concentrate fully. Keep everything that distracts you in a separate room.

3. Study little by little
You don’t have to study one whole chapter or 20 pages in just one day. You can study them little by little over days if you start earlier. This is much easier and can make you feel more motivated.

4. Don’t hesitate to ask for help
Whether you are studying Biology or Economics, and you have doubts about certain points, don’t be afraid to ask your teacher about it. Clearing doubts can help you boost your confidence. Besides teachers love to help his/her students.

5. Set the right time for studying
You can make a timetable and write down all the subjects you have to revise and set certain time for studying each of them. Studying when you’re exhausted or sleepy prevents you from paying concentration into the subject matter, so don’t do this. Take a walk if needed or sleep for a while or eat an healthy meal and then go and study.

6. Get rid of distractions
Don’t you ever feel that temptation to always check your social media for any notifications or check for any messages from your friends? I know I do and this is rather distracting. So before you set off to study, switch off your phone or keep it in silent and if possible place it in a separate room as in this way, it is very unlikely for you to get distracted.

7. Take breaks
Don’t study in one stretch! After about 1 hour of studying, take a short break, relax a bit before continuing. These breaks have been proven to calm your mind, make you feel energized and motivated.

8. Get loads of sleep
Sleep is exceedingly important. Make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep a day.

9. Keep water and snacks by your side
Drink loads of water while studying as you don’t want to be dehydrated. Have snacks preferably something healthy like an apple, a fruit salad nearby so you can consume it when you feel hungry and you don’t have to walk all the way to kitchen.

10. Make sure to reward yourself
You should definitely reward yourself after an hour or two of studying. This can make you feel motivated and surely very happy. The reward can be literally anything – watching tv for a while, continuing with the novel that you were reading, eating pizza, etc.

Okay everyone, we have reached the end of this post! I hope you found this helpful and tell me which of these you do.
Until next time. See you all later! Bye!! 🙂

Thank you to Raven Wings, Genesisthe1 and My Crazy Obsession With Books for nominating me to do this.

  • Post a quote for three consecutive days.
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day.

Here is the quote….

quote3

Nothing in this world is perfect and it is meant to stay that way. We are all human beings, we are not perfect and we make mistakes, that’s how it is supposed to be. We learn from these mistakes and ensure not to repeat them. Life is a continuing process of learning something and correcting our errors. Always allow yourself to be corrected in order for you to become a better person. Being perfect is just a dream but being a more knowledgeable and better person than you are today is way more realistic and surely achievable. Strive to be one as all you have to do is accept your flaws and love yourself the way you are.

My nominees :

Bye everyone! 😀

Three Day Quote Challenge part two Day 1

Hi everyone!! How are you all doing?
Sorry for being so inactive and not posting for a week, I have been very busy with school. I had four tests this week, I am so glad they are all over. Wohoo!
As you might (or might not) know, I am quite behind on some awards and tags. 😦 To all those people who have nominated me, don’t worry I will surely do them but I might take some time. Sorry!
Anyways today I will doing the Three Day Quote Challenge part two nominated by three wonderful people – Raven Wings, Genesisthe1st and My Crazy Obsession With Books. Thank you so so much for nominating me to do this.
My sincere apologies to Raven Wings for doing this challenge so late and not mentioning you when I did the first one. I had forgotten that you had nominated me. I am so sorry… I realized it when I checked my notebook where I had written about all the awards and tags and found out that you had actually nominated me earlier. Whoops!

Rules :

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days.
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day.

The quote for the first day is…

quote1

This is actually one of my favourite quotes. We should all remember that if one plan fails, we still have many more different ways to do it that can in turn lead to success. One example would be of Thomas Edison who had invented the long-lasting electric light bulb. He had failed many times but he didn’t lose determination until finally he succeeded. So everyone, never give up on anything!

My nominees:

Alright bye everyone.. I will be back tomorrow with the quote of Day 2. 😀

A little break

Hi everyone! How are you doing? 😀 Hope you are having a good day!
This is yet another quick post! I just wanted to inform you all that I will be inactive on my blog and my Instagram for the next two weeks. 😦 This is because my Cambridge Checkpoint exams are in a week and I am busy revising for them. Posting during that time will also distract me from studies so I am restraining from that. I mean you all know how inquisitive you are after posting something wondering about what people will think about, their feedback and all that, because I certainly am and whenever I get comments from you all, it literally make my day.

So… I won’t be uploading any posts or reading any of your posts for the next couple of weeks. I hope you understand and I’ll see you all later! Bye! 🙂

Feeling Nostalgic – 5 Tv shows

Hey guys! How are you all doing?
Today I am going to be taking you down the memory lane with 5 tv shows that you are most probably familiar with. These shows were aired on Disney channel and Nickelodeon, two of my favorite channels when I was a kid. Do tell me if you have watched these as a kid and enjoyed them as much I as I did. Without further ado let’s get to it….

1. Danny phantom

images-3.jpeg    images-4.jpeg
Who remembers this ghost boy?  Danny Fenton (which was his actual name) was just a normal kid until one day he messed up with with his parents laboratory and became half-ghost. This series is mostly about him fighting off ghosts from the ghost world while trying to manage his teen life without anyone finding out his true identity.  With his two friends, Samantha and Tucker by his side, he set off to save the day (every single time).

2. Wizards of the Waverly place

images-7.jpeg

This American sitcom is about three wizard siblings who are competing against one another to be the sole custody of their family’s powers. This show had 4 seasons in total. I had found each and every episode of this to be very entertaining, funny and definitely enjoyable. This was honestly one of my favorite things to watch and I always looked forward to watching new episodes of this show. Sadly like the others in this list, it had ended.

3. Phineas and Ferb

images-5.jpeg

709706.jpg

Who else misses the “Mom!! Phineas and Ferb are building a… “? I don’t have words to express how much I used to love this show. The mostly-talkative Phineas and usually-silent Ferb are stepbrothers trying to make the most of their summer vacation by constructing rather elaborate inventions, like the roller-coaster, time-machine, and enjoying them with their friends. Their sister Candace’s aim was to bust her brothers and every single time she calls their mother to inform her of it and by the time their mom’s reaches home, all the evidence has consistently vanished.

4. Kim Possible

600x600bb-85.jpg

“Danger or trouble
I’m there on the double
You know that you always can call
Kim Possible

Here is yet another one of my favourite tv shows of when I was a kid. In my opinion Kim Possible was one of the best cartoons in Disney Channel of all time. It had it all – cleverly written plot, cool characters, catchy music, awesome theme, plenty of action boom paw paw, comedy-packed scenes and romance.
It is about a teenage crime-fighting girl who has to deal with issues and problems arising worldwide while balancing her family and school issues. Though the villains were at times cliché with the secret lair and carefully-thought plan to rule the world, it was still one of the most incredible cartoon show I have ever watched.

5.Big Time Rush

images-10.jpeg

BTR BTR BTR!!!
A boy band trying to make it big in the music industry. The four members are Carlos, Kendall, James and Logan (from left to right). Carlos was the sweet boy and corn-dog lover. Kendal, the captain, didn’t pretty much like the stardom and fans, he always preferred a normal life. James was considered as the pretty-boy in this group, he adored the fans and loved to be in the spotlight. Logan was the brainiac, actually wanted to be a doctor.

Well that’s the end of this post. Tell me what you thought about it. I was planning to do ten but I knew this post would have been exceedingly long. Maybe I will do a part 2. Have you watched any of these shows? What were your favourite ones when you were a kid?
I decided to make a series called “Feeling Nostalgic”, where I will post about some of the things we all loved doing when we were younger. And this was one of it. What do you think?

Anyways bye everyone.. See you all later. 🙂
